Guidance for Helpline Emergency Contact
Designation of Emergency Factory Contact
Factory managers are required to designate an on-site
factory manager who is responsible in the event of an emergency.
Requirements
1. The emergency contact must be located on the factory
premises when the factory is in operation. Being on-site is essential to
responding effectively to any emergency.
2. The emergency contact must be someone with the direct
responsibility to manage a factory-based crisis. He or she
must have the authority to act immediately and with full authority of
management in an emergency.
In the event that more than one individual serves as the emergency
contact, it shall be the responsibility of the factory to inform the Alliance
when each emergency contact is on duty. Having an emergency mobile phone that
is passed from one emergency contact to another is an acceptable solution to
maintaining the availability of an emergency contact at all times.
It shall be the responsibility of the factory to notify the
Alliance of any changes in the emergency factory contact(s).
