SOP – Shading Control
SOP Shading Control |
1) Shading Side-Center-Side (Center Selvage Variation)
Objective:
Aims to
determine shade variation within the roll.
Scope:
This procedure covers
one of the activities of fabric inspection.
Authority:
This
procedure is being controlled by the store manager.
Responsibility:
Execution
and maintenance of this procedure lies on the fabric Inspector.
Procedure:
To
determine shading variation within a roll, the fabric inspector must perform
the following tasks.
v
Cut
off 8” of fabric across width of the fabric at the beginning and end of the
roll being inspected. Note – when cutting beginning of the roll, do not cut the
fabric mills instructions/ details at the corner.
v
Mark
the cut ends as beginning (1), Side Middle (2), Middle (3) and end (4), and
corresponding roll and lot number.
v
Shading
(CSV) checked by stitching the beginning, side middle, middle and end together
as below sequence 2 3 1or as required by buyer.
CSV/ Running Shading:
If fabric
found with CSV Shading or Running shading-
v
Need
to make garments/ Mock ups using Normal and special markers (Line Marker or
group).
v
Review
these mock ups/ garments with GPQ/ Quality & Merchant Team, Involve buyer
if required.
v
Decisions
should be taken within 5 to 7 Days.
v
In
case of special marker required, need to get compensation from supplier.
Roll to Roll Shading and Color
Continuity Card:
Objective:
v
Aim
to determine shading variation between Rolls, and either across the width or
end to end of the roll.
v
Aim
to check color consistency from the dyed lots. (Color Continuity Card)
Scope:
This
procedure covers one of the activities of fabric inspection.
Authority:
This procedure is being controlled
by the Store Manager.
Responsibility:
Execution and Maintenance of this
procedure lies on the fabric inspector.
Procedure:
Blanket:
v
Need
to prepare blanket with the 8X8” swatch and write on the backside of the
swatches the correct lot no/ yards/ roll no for identification.
v
Need
to attach the blankets lot wise to verify within the roll shade variation.
Shade Band (Color Continuity Card):
v
To
check color consistency from the dyed lots.
v
Cut
a small sample (about 12 x 8 CM) from all rolls/ dye to the color continuity
card.
v
Ensure
that fabric swatches are labeled (Roll #, Supplier, Shade etc) & Shade
segregated accordingly (A, B, C, D, ETC) and approval sought from concern buyer
prior to pilot cutting.
v
Check
the shades against the buyer approved color standard (approved lab-dip).
v
And
if there is a shading variation.
v
Identify
shading trend whether the consistent or not.
v
Check
shading relativity for possible shade groupings if necessary and get necessary
approvals. Need to segregate the fabrics rolls shade wise.
