standard operating procedure of sewing traffic light system

Objective
Aims to achieve conformance to specification as far as sewing process is concerned.
v  Meet customer requirement.
v  Attain customer required sewing workmanship & other sewing related matter.
v  Aim to have visual clarity on Quality/machine/Operator Status of each sewing machine.
v  To ensure that rejection rate of each process are minimized and controlled.
v  To provide an alarm signal should rejection rate is out of control.

Scope
This procedure covers best practices of Sewing Quality Control where quality level of each and every operation as well as other issues related to operator/machines are VISUAL.
Authority
This procedure is being controlled by Quality Department.
Responsibility
Execution and maintenance of this procedure lies on Line QC/QI, Line Chief, and Quality In-Charge/APM & Unit QAM/PM.

Procedure
1. Green card for ok – Roaming QI/QC Randomly checks (every hour for critical and important Process, 4 times or 2 times depend upon the process) 7 Pcs, If Zero defect, Traffic card to be Green, OK for Quality.

2. Yellow for Alarming – But if found any defects while roaming QC/QI checking of 7 Pcs  then the Roaming QC/QI will set the Yellow card as Alarming condition. Concern Line Chief/Supervisor have been intimated and work on corrective measures.

3. Red for Machine stop – If follow up audits fail, then the card turn to Red and machine to be stopped and operator to be trained on achieving required quality standard. Responsible Person – Line Chief/Quality In-Charge/APM

4. Orange for Machine disturbance – If the machines continuously broke down or causing continuous defects (like skip stitch, loose stitch, etc) to have Orange. Machine disturbance continuous, machine to be conducted routine corrective maintenance.

5. Brown Color for Critical operation – Brown color cards represent for Critical operations. This will help Line chief, Line controller and other team members to monitor the critical operation regularly.


6. White Card for New Operators – White card is applicable to Trainee operators or when we change experienced operators to new operation due to absenteeism. This will help in monitoring and guiding new operators to get the right quality from needle point.
